THERMOWOOD®
Finnforest
ThermoWood® external cladding products are produced from thermal modified Nordic pine. The raw material is specially selected pine heart wood. ThermoWood is the perfect material for structures that have to withstand continuous changes in temperature and humidity. The performance and colour of ThermoWood is similar to Western Red Cedar.
ThermoWood will last for many years without the need to apply surface treatments. However, exposure to sunlight causes the colour to change from its original brown to silver grey. To prevent colour changes and weathering effects (i.e. surface cracking and the potential for algae growth), the wood can be protected by a pigmented surface treatment.
For the best performance, ThermoWood should be installed in above ground conditions. Thermo-D corresponds to class 2 in resistance against decay according to the classification EN 113.
Metsä Wood also offers all ThermoWood products with surface treatment to prolong the durability and resistance of wood colour against weathering. The coat of paint has a uniform quality as the timber is coated industrially in a controlled process. Metsä Wood uses translucent stains with brown pigment close to the original ThermoWood colour.
